Switchboard upgrades in Plainland.

Old fuse boxes replaced with safe, compliant switchboards.

If your board still runs ceramic fuses or trips every time the kettle and aircon run together, it is telling you something. Older boards were never built for the load a modern house pulls.

We replace them with clean, labelled, compliant switchboards with safety switches on every circuit, tested and certified on the day.

How you know the board is due.

Fuses that blow instead of switches that trip. Lights that flicker when the pump kicks in. A board that hums, smells warm, or still has a black panel with porcelain plugs. Any of those around Plainland usually means a board from a different era doing a job it was never sized for.

An upgrade is not about shiny hardware. It is about fault protection that reacts in milliseconds, circuits that carry what your appliances actually draw, and room for the things you will add later.

Safety switches on everything.

Queensland homes only ever needed safety switches on some circuits when they were built, so plenty of houses have them on the power points and nothing else. The stove, the hot water, the aircon and the lights are often unprotected.

Every board we fit protects every circuit. A safety switch is the difference between a shock that trips in a blink and one that does not stop, and the cost to cover the whole house is small once the board is open anyway.

What the day looks like.

Most straight swaps are done in a day. Power goes off in the morning, the old gear comes out, the new board goes in, every circuit is tested and labelled in plain English, and power is back on before dinner.

If we find surprises behind the board, and old houses love surprises, you get told straight away with a price to fix it, not a mystery line on the invoice.

Certificates and your records.

Licensed electrical work in Queensland comes with paperwork, and you should actually receive it. Every board we do is tested, and the certificate of the work is emailed to you the same week.

Keep it with the house records: it matters for insurance, for selling, and for the next sparky who opens the board and instantly knows what was done and when.

Fair questions

Switchboard upgrades FAQs.

How much does a switchboard upgrade cost?

Most straightforward residential upgrades land in the low thousands, depending on circuits and the state of the wiring behind the board. You get a fixed written quote before anything is touched.

Will the power be off all day?

For most of the working day, yes. We tell you the night before, keep it as short as we can, and always have you back on the same day.

Do I legally need safety switches?

Queensland requires them on power circuits, and on more than that in newer work. Older homes are often only half covered. We protect every circuit as standard on a new board.

My fuses still work. Why change?

Fuses protect wiring, not people. A safety switch cuts power fast enough to save a life. That is the whole argument, and it is a good one.
