Sizing the run properly.

The mistake with shed power is always the same: a cable that was cheap on the day and too thin forever after. Voltage drop over a long run starves welders, burns out pump motors and makes lights sag every time the compressor starts.

We size the cable for the distance and the true load, in conduit at the right depth with warning tape, so the shed performs like the house and the next owner never digs into a surprise.

A sub-board in the shed, not a maze of leads.

A proper shed gets its own small switchboard: its own safety switches, its own circuits for lights, points and machines, its own isolation. Trip something at the bench and the house never notices.

It also means the shed can grow. Adding a hoist, a second fridge or a rainwater pump later is a circuit off the sub-board, not another trench across the yard.

Rural blocks run on quiet electrical workhorses: the pressure pump, the bore, the electric gate at the road, the light you want on before you walk down there in the dark.

We wire them to survive real conditions: weatherproof isolation at the equipment, protection sized for motor start-up, and controls where you actually are, which is usually the house, not the pump shed.

Three-phase and heavier gear.

Serious welders, compressors, hoists and some pumps want three-phase. Whether it is available and worth it depends on your connection and what Ergon has in the street, so the first step is a straight assessment rather than a guess.

If single-phase can do the job with the right circuits, we will tell you and save you the money. If three-phase is the honest answer, we handle the process end to end.

How deep does the trench have to be?

Underground power runs at prescribed depths with conduit and marker tape, varying by location and protection. We trench, lay and backfill to spec, or work with your digger if you want to cut costs.

Can I run the shed off an extension lead meanwhile?

For a drill on a Saturday, fine. For fridges, welders or anything permanent, no. Leads and coils are how fires and cooked tools happen. A proper run costs less than people expect.

Do I need three-phase for a welder?

Depends on the welder. Plenty run happily on a properly sized single-phase circuit. Tell us the machine and we will give you the straight answer before you spend anything.
