Safety switches & smoke alarms in Plainland.
Life-saving basics, fitted and certified to QLD rules.
Two upgrades matter more than everything else in a house: safety switches that cut power before a shock turns deadly, and smoke alarms that wake everyone in time.
Queensland has tightened the rules on both. We bring homes up to standard, test everything, and hand you the paperwork.
The Queensland smoke alarm rules, in plain English.
Queensland is moving every home to interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms: one in each bedroom, in hallways, on every level, all talking to each other so when one sounds, they all sound. Rentals and homes being sold already have to comply, and every home is expected to follow.
We fit compliant alarms, interconnect them wirelessly or wired, test the lot and leave you a record. It is one visit, and it is genuinely the best money a household spends.
Why photoelectric, why interconnected.
Photoelectric alarms detect the smouldering, smoky fires that kill people in their sleep, minutes earlier than the old ionisation type. Interconnection means the alarm in the shed end of the house wakes the kids at the other end.
Those minutes are the whole point. House fires double in size roughly every minute, and most fatal ones start when everyone is asleep.
Safety switches: the other half.
A safety switch watches the current going out and coming back, and if the difference says power is going through a person, it cuts off in a few hundredths of a second.
Plenty of homes around Plainland have one switch covering the power points and nothing on lights, stove or hot water. Full coverage is a small job on a healthy board, and it protects every person who ever touches a switch in your house.
Landlords, sellers and peace of mind.
If you lease a property, compliant alarms are your legal obligation at every new tenancy and inspection cycle. If you are selling, the contract asks the question and the buyer's building report checks.
We handle the whole compliance visit: audit what is there, fit what is missing, test, certify, email the paperwork for the property manager or the contract. Done in a morning, defensible for years.

Fair questions
Safety switches & smoke alarms FAQs.
What does the 2027 smoke alarm rule mean for me?
Queensland has been phasing in interconnected photoelectric alarms for all dwellings, with rentals and sales already covered. Upgrading now costs the same as later and protects you tonight.
Can smoke alarms be wireless?
Yes. Wireless-interconnected photoelectric alarms are fully compliant and avoid chasing cables through the ceiling. We use quality units with 10-year batteries.
How do I know if I have safety switches?
Open the board and look for switches with a TEST button. If only one has it, only some circuits are covered. Press-test them twice a year; we check all of it during any visit.
Do you do rental compliance certificates?
Yes. Audit, upgrade, test and certificate in one visit, with the paperwork emailed to you or your property manager the same day.
